Description
Morph3D is a fullscreen Windows screensaver that displays animated outline shapes made of glowing dots. The shapes continuously rotate, drift across the screen, change form and smoothly transition between the colors of a soft neon palette. The visual style is minimalist and abstract: a dark background, glowing point clouds, smooth morphing, light motion trails and a slow presence effect that makes the shape seem to approach and recede in depth.
The project is built as a standalone screensaver with multi-monitor support. On launch it covers all connected displays with borderless windows, hides the cursor and exits on user action. Each monitor gets an independent animation instance, so on a multi-screen desktop the screensaver looks alive and never repeats in sync across screens.
Technologies
- Win32 API - entry point, window creation, message handling, monitor enumeration, cursor control and input handling
- OpenGL legacy fixed-function pipeline - rendering 3D points, projection, blending and double buffering
- Source code compatible with both C and C++
- MinGW-w64 GCC/G++ - native Windows build
- Windows resource compilation - icon, manifest and version info
- Inno Setup - installer creation
- Windows manifest - DPI awareness, common controls and application metadata
Rendering uses the OpenGL immediate-mode API and point primitives, keeping the implementation compact and compatible with standard Windows OpenGL environments. The visual effect is based on point size, color, alpha and additive blending rather than modern shader-based post-processing pipelines.
